VOLUNTEERING

Giving back to society.

Hong Kong Dog Rescue

2019

This Christmas, we will be joining Hong Kong Dog Rescue at their Tai Po homing centre to help prevent dogs from being euthanized by the government's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. We hope that through a series of activies such as educational talks and dog-walking, we can be able to gain a better understanding of stray dogs in Hong Kong.

Beach Cleanup

2018

Last year, we cooperated with the World Green Organization (WGO) in cleaning up some of the city's most polluted beaches, such as that near Tai Po Sam Mun Tsui. We hope that by doing so we are able to preserve the beauty of our natural landscape and maintain the city's ecological balance. It was definitely a fruitful experience as we are able to enact positive changes through engagement with the wider public.

British Heart Foundation

2017

Apart from getting involved in HK volunteering events, we also try our best to give back to UK society. This year we sent out a group of 20 students to help at the 2017 BHF Warwick Half Marathon. BHF is a registered charity aiming to fight against coronary heart disease. We hope that through our participation, it can transform the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. It was really a great experience and we all enjoyed it very much.

Food Angel

2017

Every Christmas, WHKPASS would volunteer at the Food Angel. Food Angel is a food rescue and food assistance programme with the mission of “waste not, hunger not”. It aims to encourage students to rescue the edible surplus food from different sectors of the food industry that would otherwise be disposed of.

SATE

2016

SATE is a weekly voluntary teaching assistant experience at the Coventry Chinese School. Volunteers help teachers in preparing teaching materials and provide assistance to children during lessons. It is an interactive program specially tailored by providing a thoughtful and thorough preparation in the art of teaching. It is surely an unmissed opportunity for students to show their care to the local community by being a Chinese teaching assistant in a local school.
